is a not-for-profit self-sustainable social venture. It would be India’s first of its kind library services, to be run by deaf people. Can't Stop reading's library solutions will be available to corporates and individuals. Our members will be able to browse through our book collection online and place requests for borrowing. Members will also enjoy free delivery of books both to and from their door-step.
Besides creating employment opportunities for deaf people by running library service, this initiative also aims at integrating the deaf community in the mainstream society through awareness, training, medical-aid and rehabilitation.
India has one of the highest deaf populations in the world; four out of 1,000 children in India are born deaf. They are often excluded from formal education, employment and social life. A staggering 66% of the Indian deaf population is unemployed. They have great potential, particularly due to their mobility and vision, vis-à-vis other challenged communities, for capacity building and productive engagement. We would like to help them turn this potential into their strength.
We are dedicated to finding good use of the donated books. We will circulate books among book lovers through our library service, contribute to poor students or local community library or recycle them appropriately. Collecting books via donations will allow Can’t Stop Reading to not only offer the latest bestsellers, but also thousands of titles no longer available at local bookstores or online retailers.
We have initiated a drive to collect 30,000 books at the first phase before launching our library service by the Deaf Community in Mumbai. In the next phase the project will be extended to other cities in collaboration with local partners. We consider every book precious and are grateful to every individual involved. A little support goes a long way in achieving our goals.
